From D.C. to Paris: Clean Up Sodexo Campaign Heats Up

We've got some big plans for our campaign this week: starting today, a delegation of Sodexo cafeteria and food service workers from across the country are arriving in Washington, D.C. to kick off a two-country tour. The goal is to garner support for their struggle with Sodexo to raise standards for themselves as well as nutritional standards for the children they serve.

Throughout the week, we'll be bringing you video, pictures, and their stories. As you hear from each of the workers, you'll find that despite working in different areas of the country, each of the workers share similar experiences at Sodexo.

Here's the breakdown: in Washington, D.C. tomorrow, the workers are set to meet with lawmakers in town for the 78th Winter Meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors and with Congressional lawmakers. They'll be sharing their personal struggles to survive on Sodexo's near poverty wages.

Being the type of people that they are, they're not just fighting for themselves and their families; they're also lending their support for legislation to improve nutrition for the children they serve by urging Congress to pass an improved Child Nutrition Act.

The workers will then close their week in Washington, D.C. with a rally outside Sodexo's U.S. headquarters in Maryland before taking their message to the company's annual shareholder meeting in Paris, France.

Of course, stay tuned on the blog for recaps, photos and videos over the next few days -- and for further details on our journey to Paris!
