Is Sodexo Meeting its Commitments at the Vancouver Olympics?

If you're one of the more-than-900 people that have been hired to provide food and janitorial services to the athletes' villages in Vancouver, we'd like to hear from you.

Why? Sodexo's record of not living up to its obligations to workers at other worksites gives cause for concern. For example, at a school in New Jersey, Sodexo janitors were awarded back pay and Sodexo was fined after the U.S. Dept. of Labor found that "the company had employees working off the clock, & was having employees use 2 time cards to keep track of overtime." The investigation found that 13 employees were owed 24 hours of overtime each.

Now, we want to make sure that Sodexo workers at the Olympics are getting their due.

Sodexo workers at the Vancouver Olympics are entitled to:

  • A 40-hour work week and an 8-hour day
  • Paid overtime work that is voluntary (not forced)
  • 32 consecutive hours off every week
  • Any necessary protective wear and hazardous materials training
  • No deductions from their pay without their permission
